Hey there! Glad I can personally welcome you to my blog because there is a lot in store. First, let me introduce you to myself! Cecile Vadas is my name and I am the founder and creator of this page (as well as my food central Insta page @cecilevadas). I’m a qualified nutritionist, recipe consultant, food photographer, stylist and videographer. I develop home-style recipes with a focus on easy, inexpensive and nutritious.
When was CecileVadas.com made?
I originally created a tumblr page when I made the drastic move from Sydney, Australia to Berlin, Germany at the end of 2015 at the age of 21. May I add I had never even been to Germany nor knew much about it (history and geography are two subjects that… I failed in high school shhh). I was out of my element and I was lost. I have a learning disorder called Irlen Syndrome (my brain interprets light signals and is very over active to certain wave lengths so reading is the interpretation of the light rather than actually reading the words) which made academic jobs somewhat hard and undesirable.
I knew one thing - I loved to cook and anything creative was where I shone (unbenounced to me at the time though). Tumblr was a platform that I simply uploaded photos I took on my Iphone 4 and it was fun! I soon started to play around with my partners Fuji 100x travel sized camera, taking photos of food we would order to survive (money we made from collecting bottles and taking them as paid recycling). Restaurants and cafes saw my images and liked what I produced. They soon offered barter collaborations - free food in exchange for images to use/ Tumblr article - and I was pumped! Free food..
It slowly grew and Tumblr turned into my website and in 2018 it was finally finished (coded, designed and created by myself). From restaurant work to recipes, to now creative amazing lifestyle and design images for a range of different brands, magazines, companies and locations, this is Cecile Vadas today!
Aims and Intentions?
Professional yet homely. Easy yet evoking. Healthy yet inexpensive. Global yet personal.
These are the running elements through out my recipes. I may capture these creations in an aesthetically pleasing and finished way through my photos, but they are very much built for all cooking skill levels, a varying time availability, all dietary requirements and for different occasions. These recipes are designed by me for you and your health/ease. Healthy living and eating doesn’t have to be boring. The first step is obtaining the right produce and stepping foot in the kitchen. Whether you have this desire already and just need the recipes or you need help changing your mind to see cooking as an enjoyable and fun activity, this is where I step in and is at the core of my approached and recipes. Visually, they are pleasing, psychically they are so much more (including healthy and delicious!). To literally create step-by-step manuals that result with meals on the table is just an added bonus.
Healthy food can be accessible and it can be affordable so there is no second guessing in the decision to cook at home.
Can self taught be professional?
Damn straight it can! Self taught simply means the skills I have today was not obtained through a university, school or post graduate course. I would be lying if I was to tell you I know what I am doing/am never not learning. It’s the exact opposite in fact… I am always experimenting, trialing and testing because learning is how I develop and have created what you see on this page today. But saying that, professional is a mark of the level you are at, regardless of how you got there or seeked answers to be there.
Want more?
Apart from recipes and photos, I also use this online platform to share travel tips, unique restaurants and monumental moments captured through that little device we call a camera. I love to sharee the stories behind places, people and events I encounter. There is always a story to be explored, shared and told. I have the opportunity and means to do so! Come on the journey with me and if you have used, been inspired or used my content merely for a dream, then we are on the same wave length.
Follow more via my Instagram @cecilevadas and share with those friends who would love a little taste as well.
